Woman killed in Gloucester Co. crash

Gloucester Co., Va. – A woman was killed Tuesday night after her SUV went off the road and struck an embankment, State police tell NewsChannel 3.

It happened on July 23, 2013, at approximately 11:19 p.m. Virginia State Police was called to investigate a single vehicle motor crash on Route 17, north of Main Street (Rt. 17 Business) in the County of Gloucester. A 2003 Chevy Trail Blazer was traveling southbound on Rt. 17, when the driver ran off the road and struck the embankment – causing the vehicle to overturn, and catch on fire.

The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Julia Blair Moore of Village Woods Road in Gloucester.

Moore was taken to Walter Reed Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

At the time of the crash, State police say Moore was wearing her seat belt, and it is unknown at this time if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the crash.

Police have made contact with the victim’s family.
