Portsmouth, Va. -  Police officers were on scene of a bank robbery at the BB&T located at 3301 High St. on Friday morning.

Bank employees called 911 after a suspect entered the bank at 10:42 a.m. and demanded money.

The man was armed with a handgun, according to Jan Clark of the Portsmouth Police Department.

"People are very bold these days, we are living in desperate times you know with the economy and everything, I'm not surprised by nothing," says Ellen Speller, who works in the building next to the bank.

No injuries were reported.  The suspect ran away from the area and officers are currently looking for him.
