Dare Co., NC – A man has been arrested in an early-morning shooting death in Dare County.
At 1 a.m.Dare County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of shots fired on Fernando Street on Roanoke Island.
Upon their arrival, deputies found a shooting victim and a suspect.
Dare EMS responded and transported the shooting victim to The Outer Banks Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Deputies arrested 48-year-old Edgar Govan of 708 Fernando Street in Manteo. He is currently being held on a Murder charge at the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Steven Craig Stewart Jr. of the 600 block of Fernando Street in Manteo, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard.
