UPDATE: Suspect arrested in Suffolk shooting

UPDATE:  Police say they have now arrested Marvin Vasti Jacobs, 34, of Suffolk. 

Jacobs is being held without bond in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail. 

Suffolk, Va. - A man was airlifted to the hospital on Wednesday night after being shot several times in Suffolk. Police received calls about gunshots on E. Washington Street at 10:49 p.m.

They found a man who they say had been shot during an argument on Beech Street. Police say the man then ran to E. Washington Street for help.

The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Melvin Harden of Suffolk.  He remains hospitalized at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in good condition, police say.

Police are now searching for the suspect, 34-year-old Marvin Vasti Jacobs of the 200 block of Oak Street in Suffolk.

Jacobs is described as a black male, 6’, and weighing approximately 175 pounds, police say. The suspect is wanted for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Discharge Firearm in Public Place, Use or Display Firearm in Commission of Felony, Shooting in Commission of Felony, and Malicious Wounding.
