Today, expect back-ups at the Downtown Tunnel as crews take westbound lanes down to one.
This is the first in a series of closures at the Downtown tube.
This time next week, crews should be reopening the tube.
But, next weekend at 8 p.m. Friday night, the westbound tunnel will be closed.
And starting today, drivers can expect back-ups and delays at the tunnel.
Crews will be closing one lane on the westbound side at 8 p.m. tonight.
They should reopen at 5 a.m. the next morning.
The work is to make the tunnel safer and more energy efficient.
Once the westbound side is done, the project is only halfway done.
Crews will then work on the eastbound side.
Work on that side of the tube is expected to be complete in 2015.
