Portsmouth, Va. – Four people have now been arrested and charged with robbing a Portsmouth Food Lion store, police tell NewsChannel 3.
The robbery happened on Monday morning, August 5, at 8:44 a.m. Portsmouth Police Dispatch received a call about a robbery at Food Lion, located in the 3000 block of Airline Blvd.
Employees reported a suspect had entered the store and approached the Customer Service counter. He implied he had a weapon, and demanded money.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he left the store.
Police arrested 23-year-old Ebony Shanelle Gant, of the 900 block of Randolph Street on Monday night. She is charged with tampering with evidence. Police also arrested 23-year-old Keith Sharrod Taylor of Randolph Street on Monday night. He is charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy to commit robbery. He is also believed to be the driver of the vehicle.
Detectives found evidence linking these two to the robbery at Gant’s home on Randolph Street.
The two were taken into custody after police found the vehicle, which was seen leaving the Food Lion, just after the robbery.
On Wednesday, police announced that two more people had been arrested for the robbery.
They say that around 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night, 26-year-old Sean Deangelo Ferguson of the 500 block of Edwards Street, and 25-year-old Raquel West, of the 100 block of Founders Way, were arrested after being spotted in a vehicle.
They are currently in the custody of the Portsmouth Sheriff’s Office, on charges of robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy to commit robbery.
