Richmond, Va. – If you drive down I-95 in Richmond, you may see something a little extra on the highway soon.
A group is planning to fly the Confederate flag over the interstate in Chesterfield County according to WTVR.com.
Members of the Virginia Flaggers group say they are dedicated to honoring their Confederate ancestors. They say the flag will be placed on personal property they’ve leased that’s adjacent to I-95. One of the group’s members posted on Facebook that they plan to start site work next week and hope to have the flag up by September 28th.
WTVR contacted the state’s NAACP and they called it an embarrassment. They believe it will bring the wrong kind of attention to the area.
