UPDATE: Power has been restored to all customers affected.

York Co., Va. – Thousands are without power in York Co., officials tell NewsChannel 3.

An outage was reported at 10:18 a.m. Tuesday morning. The outage affects 4,090 customers, including York County Fire Station #1, Grafton High School, and Dare Elementary, according to Bonita Harris of Dominion Virginia Power. A gas contractor accidentally struck a cable, causing the outage.

Crews have responded to the scene.

Another outage was reported just before 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. A truck hit a Verizon power line, which damaged a pole on Carys Chapel Road near Wythe Creek, according to Spokesperson Bonita Harris. The crash pulled down the pole and wires, knocking out power to 679 customers. Dominion crews have pulled up the wire and have made repairs, Harris says, restoring power to all but 132 customers by 7:30 a.m. Officials expect to have the remaining 132 customers restored by noon.
