UPDATE: Gas leak secure in Norfolk

UPDATE: The gas leak has been secured. Units are conducting air quality sampling in the surrounding area and buildings before people are allowed back into the affected buildings.

Norfolk, Va. – About 80-100 people have been evacuated after a gas leak at Azalea Garden Road and Village Ave. in Norfolk.

Fire crews evacuated three buildings at Bauer Compressor after a contractor struck the 2-inch gas line. The 4800 block of Village is closed in both directions while crews work to secure the line.
