Suffolk Fire crews responded to a structure fire in the 140 block of Walnut Street downtown on Monday afternoon.
Crews arrived on scene at 12:52 p.m. and found smoke coming from a single-story detached garage.
Firefighters had to force entry into the garage and found the fire in the engine compartment of a 1995 Mazda Millenia that was parked inside.
The fire was under control by 1:08 p.m.
No one was injured and no one was displaced. The owners were not home at the time.
The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
