Norfolk, Va. – A woman has been arrested in Norfolk after police say she threw a broken glass bottle, striking two girls.

It happened on Sunday, August 25. Police received a call at 7:20 p.m. in reference to malicious wounding in the 2300 block of Barre Street. The caller reported two female victims.

Police say occupants in two different residences on Barre Street are involved in an ongoing dispute with each other. The girls were standing outside in the 2300 block of Barre Street, when a female suspect threw a broken glass bottle into the group. Two girls were struck by the bottle, and suffered lacerations. Both were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where they both had surgery.

The suspect is identified as Markiya Shanelle Todd. She was arrested and charged with two counts of Malicious Wounding and is being held in the Norfolk City Jail. Detectives continue to investigate, police say.
