Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday evening in Isle of Wight County.
The crash happened around 5:18 p.m. on Four Square Road just north of Comet Road when a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta ran off the right side of the road, overturned, and struck a utility pole.
The driver, 69-year-old Mae A. Bandy-Corbin of Newport News, died at the scene.
The 2-year-old and 5-year-old passengers in the vehicle were both flown to Norfolk Sentara General Hospital with serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
