A photo of a Marine’s wife giving her husband a piggy back ride has gone viral on the Internet.
Jesse Cottle lost his legs when he was hit by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan in 2009.
He and his wife Kelly met during his recovery and they were married last year.
Recently the couple took a trip to visit Kelly’s family in Idaho. The family took a portrait and the photographer asked for a photo of Jesse and Kelly together.
“Someone had suggested taking photos in the water,” Kelly told Good Morning America. “I was carrying Jesse back to his legs, and the photographer was like, ‘Oh we’ll get a couple of shots of you together.’ It wasn’t planned or anything.”
“The photo really says it all,” Jesse added. “I actually look at it very much as a symbol for our whole relationship in general. She’s physically carrying me, but there’s times where she’s carrying me emotionally. It’s a perfect representation of who Kelly is.”
