Burglary suspect arrested after SWAT standoff

Hampton, Va. - Several people at a Hampton apartment complex were evacuated for safety as the SWAT team tried to serve warrants on a wanted man.

This happened in the 100 block of Michigan Drive on Wednesday night.

Officers received information that 27-year-old Kevin Madison, who had warrants on file for robbery, use of a firearm and maiming, was at the location and armed with a firearm.

Crews shot tear gas into the home and Madison surrendered just before midnight.

Police say that Madison is responsible for assaulting a robbing a man on August 4th in the 400 block of Martha Lee Drive.

Madison has been charged with one count of robbery, one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony and one count of maiming.
