A man who was reportedly having shortness of breath and chest pains while on a fishing boat had to be medevaced by the Coast Guard near the Oregon Inlet on Thursday.

The 44-year-old man was on a boat called the “Bite Me” and was 35 miles northeast of the inlet at the time.

Someone on the boat called for help at around 2:20 a.m. and crews responded shortly afterward.

EMS personnel also responded to the scene to begin primary care.

The man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
