At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, Elizabeth City State University will test its emergency alert system.

University Police activates the emergency alert system as a campus safety measure.

The alert system would be activated in the event of a tornado, violent storm, or violent incident.

This series of tones is a test conducted by University Police. In addition, test messages (ECSU Alert) will be distributed to university issued email accounts. Text messages will be distributed to registered cell phones, officials say.

No actions need be taken for this test.
