Aerial mosquito spraying in Portsmouth

Portsmouth, Va.-In conjuction with the City of Portsmouth, the Norfolk District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct an aerial mosquito spraying at federal properties on Craney Island, adjacent city properties, and the Churchland area north of state route 164 on Thursday, September 19th. If the weather permits, the aerial spraying will be conducted between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The spraying will be done by Crabbe Aviation LLC, utilizing an Air Tractor, which is a fixed-wing aircraft, to spray EC, a formulation of Dibrom, to target flying adult mosquitoes. The plane will conduct low-flying spray operations in the area.

If weather conditions do not allow aerial spraying on Thursday, the inclement weather date is set for Friday, September 20th.
