THIBODAUX, LA – A 27-year-old man was arrested for his third DWI after he was pulled over for not wearing his seat belt. When the deputy asked him why he wasn’t wearing it, he replied “my dog ate it.”

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the incident happened on Tuesday, Sept. 17 shortly before 6:00 p.m. The deputy conducted the traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Zachary Ordoyne of Thibodaux.

“While speaking to Ordoyne, deputies detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, and Ordoyne’s speech was slurred,” Deputy Brennan Matherne, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, said. “He admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages and showed deputies a half-full bottle of an alcoholic beverage in his vehicle.”

Ordonyne allegedly performed poorly on a field sobriety test. He later submitted to a breathalyzer test, which showed him to have a blood alcohol level of .104 percent.

Ordonyne was arrested and charged with DWI (3rd offense), Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle, and not wearing his seat belt. He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. His bond was set at $50,150.
