Portsmouth, Va. - A 19-year-old Portsmouth mother was arrested Monday after police found her 1-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son home alone with a 12-year-old family member.
Kalisha Everett was charged with child abuse and neglect of a child after a family member alerted police that Everett had left the children in the care of the 12-year-old.
Police found all three scared and crying.
Everett's 1-year-old daughter requires constant attention for a serious medical issue and the 12 year did not know how to take care of her.
