Teen arrested for carjacking in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. – A teen has been arrested and charged with carjacking in Virginia Beach, police tell NewsChannel 3.

It happened on Sunday, July 28, 2013 at approximately 1:15 p.m. After communicating with a man via Craigslist with the purpose of selling a cellular phone, the victim and suspect made arrangements to meet at the shopping center parking lot located at 5393 Wesleyan Drive.

The two met, and began to negotiate the cost when the suspect produced a handgun and demanded the victim’s money as well as car keys.

The victim complied; the suspect then fled the scene, driving the victim’s vehicle.

The victim’s vehicle was located a few blocks away.

The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Michael Antonio Perry of the 600 block of Fox Creek Court in Virginia Beach. He is charged with Carjacking, Robbery, and two counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Perry is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility without bond.

This case remains under investigation.
