NewsChannel 3 is helped to kick off a truly uplifting experience!

The Bra-Ha-Ha Annual Awards Show and Auction was Friday night at the Chesapeake Conference Center!

The event creates awareness and raises money to provide free mammograms for those who need it most in our community.

It's a creative and fun way to bring attention to the issue of breast cancer.

This year NewsChannel 3 provided an entry in honor of former anchor Jane Gardner, who discovered her breast cancer 13 years ago.

We've named our entry TV Ta-Ta's!

Artists and amateurs alike pay an entry fee to decorate a bra for the fun competition.

Since this event began five years ago, nearly 500 people in our region have received free mammograms through Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

If you or someone you know needs a screening but can't afford it, we will be opening our 'Taking Action Help Line' Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. right here on NewsChannel 3. We will have a panel of medical experts from Chesapeake Regional Medical Center that can answer your questions and sign you up for a screening.

The winning designs were the Bodacious Brastrich by designers Amy Fitchett and Linda Hitchings who won first place, the USS Mammogram by Linda Gililland who won second and Sticks and Stones by Whitney Stevens and Liz Craig won third place.

No Monkeying Around by Mandy Philbrick won most humorous, Sirena's Song by Jessy Davis won most creative and Sock It To Cancer by Kelly Echols and Gerry Logue won most inspirational.
