Update: Suspect in deadly Chesapeake shooting arrested

Update: According to police, Laquan Wright was taken into custody at 2:00pm Friday in Charlotte, NC by the US Marshals without incident. Members of the Chesapeake Police and Sheriff's Office Apprehension Office conducted an investigation which led them to the Charlotte area. Wright is being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail awaiting extradition.

Update: A 22-year-old man is now wanted for first-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of Torrey Smith.

Police are looking for Laquan Wright of the 2800 block of Parkside Drive.

Chesapeake, Virginia - According to police, 29-year-old Torrey Smith of the 2400 block of East Princess Anne Road was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning.

Police responded to the 2800 block of Parkside Drive around 5:50 a.m. to a call of an injured person.

Upon arrival, police say they located Smith who had been shot.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

This homicide remains under investigation.
