Hampton, Va. - Two people are without a home after a fire broke out at a house on Whetstone Drive.
When crews arrived at 5:52 p.m., they saw heavy smoke coming from the home and heavy fire was coming from the kitchen window.
Firefighters quickly put the fire out.
They say one person who was inside of the home was able to get out.
One occupant was checked out for smoke inhalation.
Crews say there was severe damage in the kitchen area, and person inside of the home said they were cooking at the time.
The fire was contained to the first floor of the home.
Officials say they do not have a cause of the fire yet.
