The Midtown Tunnel has reopened following a closure due to a crash.

Delays are still expected in both directions.

The HRBT is currently experiencing backups of 2 miles eastbound and 6.5 miles westbound and due to an earlier crash and afternoon congestion.

The 15th view gate is currently closed.

At approximately 10:44 a.m., state police were notified of the crash involving several vehicles.

Police say a Dodge SUV was traveling in the right lane and merging into the left lane of I-64 west. A Toyota Camry was at a stop in the left lane when the Dodge SUV struck the Camry in the rear – causing a chain reaction.

The impact forced the Camry to strike the vehicle in front – a Nissan Altima, which then struck the rear of a BMW. The Altima and BMW were also stopped in the left lane.

The drivers of the Dodge SUV and Camry were transported by ambulance to DePaul Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The drivers of the Altima and BMW did not seek medical treatment at the scene.

Charges are pending, police say.

The crash remains under investigation.
