Bridge Road speed limit to change in November

Posted

Suffolk, Va. – The speed limit will change starting next month on Bridge Road in Suffolk.

The Suffolk Department of Public Works Traffic Engineering Division recently completed a speed study of the Bridge Road (Route 17) corridor as a result of a periodic review of the roadway.

Officials say the length of the roadway segment between the Chesapeake city line and Isle of Wight County line is 7 miles long.

Currently, the speed limit on Bridge Road varies between 45 mph and 55 mph. Based on the result of the study, the Department of Public Works and the Suffolk Police Department are recommending that the entire section of roadway be posted at 45 mph. This change will take place November 15, 2013.

Temporary signage noting the change in the speed limit will be installed to alert drivers to this modification.
