Woman arrested after burglary, police pursuit ending in crash

Portsmouth, Va. - A woman was taken into custody on Tuesday night after a police pursuit ended in a crash in Portsmouth.

At around 8:43 p.m., police received a call about a possible burglary in the 1000 block of Douglas Avenue.

They say a women in a white Jeep Cherokee was spotted near the area. Police say an officer tried to stop the vehicle and then it took off, nearly hitting the officer that was approaching.

The officer pursued the vehicle on Douglas and then east on High Street.

They say the driver then crashed head on into a white Lincoln Town Car at High and Elm Streets. A man who was driving the town car was taken to Maryview Hospital with leg and neck pain.

Ashley C HallThe woman who was driving the Cherokee, identified as 25-year-old Ashley C. Hall, was then taken into custody, police say.

Hall also suffered minor injuries and was transported to Maryview Hospital. During the investigation, officers found Hall in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Hall is charged with six felonies including Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Eluding Police and several felony drug charges.  Hall was also charged with four misdemeanors to include Possession of Marijuana, Driving while suspended, Reckless Driving and Failing to Obey a Traffic Light.
