Fatal Hampton fire caused by electrical wiring

UPDATE: The Hampton Fire Marshal’s Office has determined that the cause of this accidental fire was due to electrical wiring between the first and second floors.

Hampton Va. – One person is dead after an early morning fire in Hampton.

Units were called to the 400 block of Galveston Court shortly after 6:20 Saturday morning.  Once on scene fire units saw visible smoke in the two-story home.

During the rescue a portion of the second floor collapsed, and firefighters were  evacuated from the home.  Firefighters were able to find one victim in the collapsed debris who had died.

The victim of the fire is an adult female and her identity will be released once next of kin is notified.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
