Virginia Beach, Va. - On Wednesday, the man accused of trying to abduct a young boy from a church parking lot is due back in court.

He was just in court yesterday.

56-year old Ruben Torres is charged with abduction and driving while intoxicated.

He was arraigned on those charges yesterday.

Today, he's due in court for a bond hearing.

Police say Torres was drunk Saturday when he tried to kidnap a 6-year-old at a yard sale at the Thaila United Methodist Church on Virginia Beach Boulevard.

The boy's parents confronted Torres - police say that's when he took off.

He was later arrested.

Court records show Torres was convicted of raping a child in 1990 in Massachusetts.

Because of that conviction, he is listed in Virginia's sex offender registry.
