The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a freeze warning until 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
The warning affects the coastal Tidewater region as well as the Virginia Eastern Shore and Northeast North Carolina.
The NWS says temperatures will quickly fall into the low to mid 20s early this evening followed by overnight lows ranging from 25 to 30 degrees.
