Expect traffic delays on Virginia Beach Blvd. at intersection of Great Neck and London Bridge Rd.

Virginia Beach, Va. – Attention Virginia Beach Drivers!

Major traffic delays and congestion are expected at Virginia Beach Blvd/Great Neck/London Bridge Road beginning Wednesday night!

Starting at approximately 7:00 pm tonight Virginia Beach Public Utilities will be making repairs to a leaking 16” water main on Virginia Beach Boulevard at the intersection of Virginia Beach Boulevard/Great Neck Road/London Bridge Road.

There will be significant traffic congestion in and around the intersection that will cause traffic disruptions and significant delays. During the morning and afternoon rush hours, expect delays in excess of 10 minutes getting through this intersection.

Temporary traffic changes will include:
· Westbound traffic on Virginia Beach Boulevard will be reduced to two through lanes. Left and right turn lanes will be open.

· Eastbound traffic on Virginia beach Boulevard will be reduced to one left lane turn lane. Through lanes and the right turn lane will be open.

· Southbound traffic on Great Neck Road will be reduced to one through lane. Left and right turn lanes will be open

· Northbound traffic will be restricted to no left turning movements. The through lanes and right turn lane will be open.

Motorists should consider using alternate routes while the water main is being repaired. Possible routes include: First Colonial Road, Potter’s Road, International Parkway and Lynnhaven Parkway.

Police officers will be on the scene to help direct traffic. Advanced warning signs will be posted beginning today advising motorists of the temporary traffic patterns.
Weather permitting, repairs are expected to be completed by 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 21
