Man charged in connection to shooting in Elizabeth City

Elizabeth City, N.C. – A man has been arrested in Elizabeth City in connection to a shooting that occurred on Thursday.

Police say officers were called out to Harney Street after getting reports about multiple shots fired in the area.

Police say they received information that a white car was leaving the scene and they located the vehicle on Bell and Banks Street.

Witnesses tell them that someone who was dressed in a black hoodie walked up to the suspect who has been identified as Shiqwan Martel Riddick, while he was walking on Harney Street.

They say the unknown person fired several shots at Riddick before ducking behind a car that was occupied. Both men exchanged fire according to officials.

Both Riddick and the unknown person left the scene on foot.

Riddick has now been charged with going armed to the terror of the public and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

His bond has been set at $6,000.00.
