Three displaced after house fire in Hampton

Hampton, Va. – Hampton Fire and Rescue crews were called to a residential fire in the 1st block of West Virginia Avenue on Monday around 11:35 a.m.

As units arrived, they observed heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home, front door and attic vents.

The fire was extinguished in about 25 minutes. The resident was able to escape before units arrived.

The home sustained heavy damage to the bedroom and attic and smoke damage throughout.

Three residents were displaced. The Red Cross has been called to assist.

Per the Hampton Fire Marshal’s investigation, the fire originated in the
bedroom. The fire cause is undetermined.

The fire is currently under investigation.
