For sixteen years, retired Command Master Chief Mike Britt and his wife Nina have hosted men and women in the military at their home for Thanksgiving.

“Giving somebody that has not the ability to go home a place to come home where they can relax, take off their uniform, kick off their shoes and just  feel like they are a part of home was very special to me,” says Britt.

But for Mike and Nina, joy is not limited to a season. They spread it year round and around the world. You might see them around Hampton Roads as Duffy and Sparkles, Christian clowns on a mission.

“You know our belief is it takes a smile to open the door,” says Britt.

That`s why they`ll open their door again tomorrow to make sure people a long way from home have full bellies and full hearts.

NewsChannel 3 honored them with a $200 Farm Fresh gift card for their generosity.

We also gave them a People Taking Action Award and a $100 Visa gift card from our community partner Southern Bank.
