Hampton, Va. - A fire damaged an apartment in Hampton early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters arrived at the fire in the Lincoln Park Apartments in the 1100 block of LaSalle Ave. and West Pembroke Ave. to find flames shooting through a second story window.
A family of five was already outside when crews arrived.
Firefighters say there was moderate damage to one second-floor unit, and credit a firewall and their quick response from preventing the blaze from spreading to other apartments.
A Red Cross Disaster Relief Team responded to the scene; The Red Cross provided assistance to a total of 10 people who occupied the two units that were affected by the fire.
The case of the fire is under investigation.
