York County, Va. – A 44-year-old Hampton man has been arrested and charged after officials say he allegedly stole a package from the doorstep of a home in York County.

It happened on December 9, 2013 at 11:41 a.m. Officials say a neighbor witnessed a suspect steal a package off of the doorstep of a home in the 400 block of Arabian Circle.

The theft occurred directly after FedEx had dropped off the package.

The suspect, who is an employee of a Pest Control Company, was apparently walking from residence to residence. He picked up the package from a porch and kept walking. The witness went outside and continued to watch him as he got into his work truck and left the area. The witness called the Sheriff’s Office, and gave them a license plate number as well as the vehicle and suspect description.

A Sheriff’s Deputy arrived in the area and found the truck at the rear of Yorkshire Downs Shopping Center. After further investigation, officials say the suspect was taken into custody.

Lance Patrick Luckey, Jr., age 44, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny and Trespassing.

Luckey’s last known address is on Hunter Trace in Hampton.

The package he allegedly stole contained several books, valued at more than $700. The package has not been recovered, according to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
