Virginia Beach, Va. - A robbery suspect was captured by a police K9 on Wednesday morning in the Green Run area of Virginia Beach.
Virginia Beach Police say the victim reported the robbery around 8:30 a.m. She says she was giving the male suspect a ride near Dahlia Drive and Forestwood Drive when he pulled out a gun and demanded her money.
After taking the victim's cell phone, the suspect fled on foot.
Green Run High School was placed on external lockdown as a precaution.
The suspect was apprehended by a police K9 shortly afterwards and transported to a local hospital as a result of the encounter with the dog.
The suspect's identity and formal charges have not yet been released. The case remains under investigation.
