Suffolk middle school briefly evacuated after bomb threat

Posted

Suffolk Police are investigating after a bomb threat was found written on the wall of a restroom at John Yeates Middle School.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue were notified and the fire marshal issued a bomb threat evacuation at 1:15 p.m. so the school could be swept.

Fire personnel and state police dogs swept the building and the mobile units. At 1:45 p.m., the fire marshal gave the “all clear” for students and staff to return to the building.

School dismissed on time. A recorded phone message will go out to all parents.

Police say those responsible will face criminal charges as well as disciplinary consequences from the school.
