Pungo Library to close during water system treatment

Posted

Virginia Beach, Va. – The Pungo-Blackwater Library, 916 Princess Anne Road, will be closed on Dec. 26, 27 and 28 to allow for disinfection of the building’s water system. Previously the library announced it would be closed only two days – Dec. 26 and 27.

The library and nearby Creeds Elementary School and the Senior Resource Center use the same water system, which is owned and operated by the Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Several times since September, water from this system has tested positive for contamination. The Health Department has issued a boil notice water for these locations and is working with school officials to remedy the problem. The water is not being used for drinking or washing in any of these buildings.

On Dec. 26-28, the water system will be disinfected. The school will be closed for winter break, and the library and senior center will be closed during the water treatment.
