York County, Va. – York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found shot late Saturday evening.

A sheriff’s office spokesman says just after 10 p.m. deputies responded to the 200 block of Thoreau Circle at the Four Seasons apartments where the shooting happened.

Crews arrived, and learned that the suspect approached the front door as the victims were preparing to leave the residence. The suspect pointed a gun at the victim and began shooting. The victim returned fire and the suspect fled, officials say. Once outside, the suspect was seen getting into a tan SUV.

The suspect is described as a 6'4 black male wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask.

A short time later, a male believed to be the suspect, was dropped off at a local hospital by a tan SUV; he was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, officials say.

The suspect remains in guarded condition.
