Camp Lejune, NC – A 39-year-old man is safe now thanks to the Coast Guard and a good Samaritan who jumped into action after his 16-foot boat capsized at the entrance to Bear Inlet near Camp LeJeune, N.C.

The Coast Guard was notified about the incident at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. They were told that the boat was taking on water and there was a person on board.

A crew on a 24-foot special purpose craft responded to the scene. The Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department, North Carolina Marine Patrol and TowBoat U.S. were also there.

A person who was already on the scene rescued the man from the water and the Coast Guard met the good Samaritan. They put the rescued man onto a boat and took him to the station where an ambulance was waiting.

No one was injured and the boat was salvaged.
