UPDATE: Two arrested in Franklin bank robbery

Franklin, Va. – Two arrests have been made in connection with the armed robbery of a SunTrust Bank located at 117 W. Second Avenue on Friday, January 3, 2014.

On Sunday, January 5 the suspects, 26-year-old Shane Bradshaw and 23-year-old Phillip Doughtie, were taken into custody for the crime, police say. Both were transported to Western Tidewater Regional Jail, and are being held without bond.

The FBI, State Police, and the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office assisted Franklin police in the investigation and apprehension of the suspects.

Shane Irvin Bradshaw of Courtland is charged with armed bank robbery, possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, wearing a mask in public, grand larceny, conspire with another to commit bank robbery, and 13 counts of abduction.

Virginia State Police Trooper S.W. Johnson, Trooper J.W. Carr and Trooper V.J. Tolaro Jr., took Bradshaw into custody following a short foot pursuit in Southampton County. Bradshaw is currently being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Phillip Louis Doughtie of Franklin is charged with armed bank robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, wearing a mask in public, grand larceny, conspire with another to commit bank robbery, solicitation to commit bank robbery, and 13 counts of abduction.
