Hatteras Island, N.C. – Two people have been arrested and charged with selling cocaine in Dare County, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard.
On January 10, 2014, the Dare County Narcotics Task Force conducted an undercover operation on Hatteras Island.
The investigation was initiated following complaints from citizens regarding individuals selling cocaine in the Frisco area.
Dare County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to pull over a vehicle leaving the area in question. The traffic stop resulted in several charges.
On January 11, Task Force Officers executed a search warrant at 50029 Bayside Court. Cocaine, prescription medication, and firearms were seized. This seizure resulted in a second arrest, according to Chief Deputy Hoggard.
Deputies arrested 34-year-old Matthew Ryan Taylor of Lanexa, Virginia. Taylor is charged with Possession with the Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine; Conspire to Sell or Deliver Cocaine; and Driving While Impaired. He was released on $38,000 bond.
Deputies also arrested 18-year-old Chad Lee Rucker of the Frisco area of North Carolina. Rucker is charged with Conspire to Sell or Deliver Cocaine; and Possession with the Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine. He was released on $35,000 bond.
