A man has died after a single vehicle accident on Friday on Route 17.
State police say the accident occurred at 11:59 a.m. in the 5200 block of Route 17 on George Washington Memorial Highway.
They say the man was driving a 2000 Lincoln Towncar and was going northbound on Route 17 in the southbound lanes. He ran off of the roadway and hit a retaining wall.
They say he became trapped inside of the vehicle and died on the scene.
The victim was identified as Michael Shawn Utley, 40, from Gloucester, Va.
State police say they do not know if speed or alcohol were factors in this accident. Utley was the only person in the car and they say he was not properly restrained at the time.
