State trooper’s cruiser hit while trying to assist disabled vehicle on I-264

Virginia Beach, Va. – A Virginia State Trooper was hurt while trying to help someone with a disabled vehicle on Monday evening.

Police say this happened on I-264 near Mt. Trashmore at around 6:18 p.m.

They say Trooper J. Ogden pulled over into the closed shoulder lane to help a safety patrol unit with a disabled vehicle. His cruiser was hit from behind by a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer which was driven by Yanicka Sylvia Dalton.

Dalton was taken to the emergency room for evaluation and the trooper complained about minor pain and sought medical attention.

This crash is still under investigation.
