Ship catches fire in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk Fire-Rescue units responded to a ship fire at the Colonna Shipyard in the 400 block of East Indian River Road just around 5:44 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Norfolk Fire-Rescue units arrived on scene and had nothing showing initially. Fire crews shortly discovered a small exterior fire on the ship.

Crews worked to extinguish the fire and the fire was contained to the exterior.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
