Newport News, Va. – A Virginia Beach man has been arrested and is facing numerous charges after an incident involving pepper spray, police tell NewsChannel 3.

On Sunday, February 16, 2014 at approximately 6:49 p.m., Dorian Hemby went to his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend’s home in the 600 block of Hampton Avenue to retrieve his belongings from the front porch.

Hemby forced his way into the apartment and took the victim’s phone away from her to prevent her from calling police.

A physical altercation ensued, police say, and the victim sprayed Hemby in the face with pepper spray.

Hemby wiped the spray off his face and onto the victim. Hemby then left the residence with his property as well as the victim’s phone.

Warrants were obtained for 31-year-old Dorian Darel Hemby of the 3000 block of Breslaw Court in Virginia Beach for burglary, assault, petit larceny, assault with a caustic substance, and preventing contact of emergency services. He was arrested on February 18, 2014.
