Brush fires extinguished in Suffolk

Suffolk, Va. – Firefighters were called out to two separate brush fires on Route 58 Sunday afternoon.

According to a city spokesperson, the call came in shortly after 4 p.m.

The brush fires were about 50 yards apart on Holland Road/Route 58 near Longstreet Lane and Pioneer Road.

One brush fire was estimated to be about 50 yards long and 50 yards deep, and the second fire was about 10 to 15 yards long.

Traffic was stopped for a short time.  No one was injured.   There’s no word yet on what started the fires.
