Newport News Police arrested three people early Monday after a woman was assaulted and robbed early Friday morning.
Police say the 23-year-old victim reported that she was in the backseat of a vehicle belonging to 27-year-old Lyndsey Sturgis, along with her 23-year-old boyfriend Justin Hedgpeth.
Sturgis was driving the vehicle, and 40-year-old Dolores Thompson was a passenger.
The victim said she and her boyfriend got into an argument and that Hedgpeth punched her in the mouth. Sturgis and Thompson then allegedly joined in on the assault.
They drove to Savannah Suites at 11715 Jefferson Avenue and Hedgpeth reportedly pushed the victim out of the vehicle and held her on the ground while Sturgis and Thompson continued the assault.
The three suspects then left with the victim’s purse and cell phone.
The victim suffered bruises on her legs, cuts on her hands and below her eye, and hair missing from her head.
Warrants were obtained for the suspects and they were arrested on Monday.
Hedgpeth, Sturgis, and Thompson were all charged with abduction by force, intimidation or deception, malicious wounding, and grand larceny.
