Virginia State Police looking for hit and run suspect in Gloucester Co.

Virginia State Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a person who struck and injured a bicyclist in Gloucester County on Saturday, February 22nd.

Police say Robert J. Gray was traveling northbound on the right shoulder of Route 17, just north of Owl Trap Road, when he was struck and seriously injured by a passing vehicle.

The driver did not stop and based on witness accounts, the driver made a U-turn, backed up towards the victim, stopped, and then continued northbound on Route 17.

A nearby resident heard the crash, discovered the victim and alerted authorities.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a dark brown or tan Toyota pickup truck with a camper shell in the bed.

It is believed to have possibly been a Toyota Tundra 2002-2006 model. The truck was damaged on the passenger side headlight and side mirror.
