NewsChannel 3 has learned new details about the shooting on Valentine's Day at the Gallery at Military Circle mall. According to family, the victim, 23-year-old Marquise White, was shopping with his fiancée and new baby when a fight broke out and a gun went off.

"They were shopping at the time and I got the call that he had been shot at the mall," says White’s father, William White, who spoke only to NewsChannel 3.

In the Instagram video of the aftermath of the shooting taken by an employee at the mall, we now know that White is the bloody victim.

“The bullet went through the main part of his thigh and continued right through,” William White says. “Very lucky. Very lucky."

So far Norfolk police have charged two men for the shooting. 20-year-old Javonte Jordan and now 19-year-old Victor Johnson are now behind bars.

According to court documents, Johnson was seen running from the mall after the shooting and had posted pictures of the silver semi-automatic handgun he used on his Facebook page.

On February 20th investigators arrested Johnson at an apartment complex off Sheryl Drive in Norfolk.

White is out of the hospital, but still recovering from his injury.

"I’m just thanking the Lord that no more damage was done than there was," William White says.
